The ISSF Academy has held warm discussions with the International Olympic Committee over the new institution, with its aims well-received in Lausanne, Switzerland.

ISSF Academy Director, Vesa Nissinen, and Head of Administration, Karoliina Nissinen, met with a team of eight IOC representatives, headed by Head of Entourage Unit, Yassine Yousfi, and Head of Sport Development Unit, Sheila Stephens Desbans.

The goals of the Academy were well-received by the teams, with Olympic Solidarity programmes mentioned – an initiative that supports improving development across sport.

“Our meetings with the IOC Sport Development and Entourage Units were truly inspiring,” said Karoliina Nissinen.

“The effort the Academy has made in 2024 was very impressive to the IOC.

“The support for coaches and athletes in shooting will grow.

“The new Olympic Solidarity programme offers exciting opportunities and enhanced support for the growth of shooting sports.”

Positive cooperation is expected to continue throughout the Olympic cycle until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
