First shotgun course for athletes to begin in September

First shotgun course for athletes to begin in September, both skeet and trap technical skills, range protocols and equipment.

The ISSF Academy is pleased to announce the launch of its new shotgun course, an online programme designed for a global audience of shooting athletes seeking to advance their skills and knowledge.

This is an interactive online instructional five-week shotgun course that is designed specifically for novice to intermediate class competitors in the ISSF disciplines of Trap and Skeet. The course is run by Russell and Lauryn Mark.

The first four lectures include over forty short video tutorials. Many of these were originally produced by our company, “Go Shooting Pty Ltd”, for our YouTube channel. All videos have been carefully edited, and several new tutorials have been created exclusively for the ISSF Academy Shotgun coaching course.

The lectures outline the step-by-step process an ISSF shotgun athlete should follow, beginning with determining whether to shoot right- or left-handed. We cover essential range protocols and equipment, fundamental technical skills, and provide guidance on setting realistic goals while managing the mental and physical challenges of progression within the ISSF pathway.

This course also offers experienced athletes an opportunity to revisit core fundamentals and address any ingrained habits that may be limiting their performance.

While most topics apply broadly to both Trap and Skeet disciplines, some sections will focus on discipline-specific techniques.

The key ingredient to this course is that each week we will personally join you online to guide you through every video and help navigate your way through our wonderful sport.

In the final lecture, we provide a unique online critique of selected students’ techniques and equipment. All participants will benefit from this session, gaining insight into how to apply constructive feedback to improve their own setup and refine their performance.

The first edition of the ISSF Academy Shotgun Course for athletes will commence on September 3, 2026.
